John Johnson emphasizes the positive experience he had at the Berlin Ethnological Museum, particularly in contrast to some of his experiences with museum professionals in the United States. He shares that while the removal of artifacts was a tremendous loss, those artifacts that were obtained honorably serve as an important resource for cultural education. Johnson expresses optimism for the future, reflecting that where people once fought each other, they now fight together for survival. He also shares his enthusiasm for the future Chugach Museum, which has received special funding from the U.S. Congress, Chugach Alaska Corporation, and the Valdez Oil Spill Council. He shares that the museum will be run by the Chugach Heritage Foundation and will serve all descendants, including those who no longer live in Alaska. Johnson emphasizes the importance of creating good employment opportunities for people in the region so they are not compelled to leave for larger cities to make a living.
